As an avid runner, I’ve spent years searching for the secret to logging long distances in record time. I’ve tried Jeff Galloway’s run-walk-run method, meditating while I jog, and, most recently, fueling with Salty Patch Kids (Sour Patch Kids rolled in salt instead of sugar, of course). So far they’ve only led to disappointment—and some stomach issues. But ultramarathoner David Roche just shattered his own record at the Leadville 100, so whatever he’s doing seems to be working.
