Lockdowns. In a November 5 letter, Colorado's public health officials asked Governor Jared Polis to consider issuing tougher measures, including county-by-county lockdowns, to deal with rising COVID-19 cases. Despite the plea, Polis has indicated he is hesitant to enact such measures. (CPR)
City budget. On Monday night, the Denver City Council approved a 2021 operating budget for the city. The plan features a whole host of cuts, but more money has been allocated for some departments and initiatives, including housing, social services, health, and youth violence prevention. (Denverite)
America the Beautiful. Starting today (Veterans Day), all United States veterans and gold star families will be granted free lifetime passes to national parks, wildlife refuges, and other federal lands managed by the Department of Interior. Locally, admission to Colorado State Parks is free today for veterans. (NPR)
